Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have been suffering from social anxiety disorder for the last 13 years. I was also affected by social anxiety disorder when I was 6 years old. But now, when I talk to more students or teachers, my face and ears turn red. So I am using Citanew (Escitalopram) 10 mg and Paroxetine 20 mg tablets, one tablet for one day. It is working, but my hands sweat, I sometimes get confused, there is swelling or redness on my face and ears, and while talking to someone they get warm.
Escitalopram is good for social anxiety disorder but sometimes causes pain in my head. How to control social anxiety? Should I change my tablets? How much time will it take to show the best result? Can I increase the dosages? Can tablets cause memory disturbances? During a presentation in a class, what should I do? How much time will it take to terminate the problem? Kindly give me details.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
First, the medication regime you are taking is wrong and harmful.
Paroxetin and Escitalopram are from the same class and have the same work. Therefore, it is wrong to take two medications at the same time.
I would recommend discontinuing Citanew (Escitalopram) and continuing Paroxetine. You can increase the dose to 30 mg once daily. Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.
Also, if you can tell me your blood pressure and heart rate, I can prescribe another medication for anxiety and stage fright if you have one.
Thank you.
