Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a weird rash on my foot. That has been persistently itchy, peeling and building. It does not burn, but it is unappetizing to look at. I do take Lyderm for it. It seems to stop the itching, but not the spreading of the rash. It has been on my leg for a year now. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. This is most probably stasis dermatitis (attachment removed to protect patient identity), which occurs in people with poor circulation and in serious cases may develop into ulcers. Stasis dermatitis commonly affects individuals over 50, particularly those with heart conditions, excess weight, or extended periods of sitting. Its symptoms encompass skin discoloration, itchiness, scaling, and the development of ulcers. To alleviate these symptoms, it's advisable to refrain from prolonged standing or sitting, elevate your feet when seated, and utilize compression socks. Employing remedies like Lanolin, Calamine, topical antibiotics such as Neomycin, Benzocaine, and numbing agents could be beneficial. Utilizing moist bandages and, if necessary, topical steroid creams might also be helpful. However, seeking guidance from a specialist is essential; discuss your condition, treatment options, and proceed with their expert consent.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
