Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I developed pain in the right side of my stomach over three weeks ago. A few days later, I developed nausea and a metallic taste in my mouth. I have had blood and urine tests which were normal. I have also had an ultrasound which was also normal. My symptoms have not improved. I was prescribed Esomeprazole by my doctor.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your comments, and it is suggestive of gastritis and reflux disease. Please follow the following steps, and it will help you get out of this.

1) Take small bites of food and chew food properly.

2) Increase intake of fluids.

3) Do not overeat; leave some space while eating.

4) Avoid spicy and oily foods.

5) Keep yourself active.

6) Do not lie in bed after a meal; wait for 2 to 3 hours.

7) Try to cut down your weight.

8) If you have any addiction, try to cut it down.

Continue Esomeprazole (pantaprazole) 40 mg once before breakfast for a minimum of four weeks as advised by your doctor. If you still feel trouble consult with a specialist and take the following medication with his or her consent. Syrup Gaviscon (Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Alginate, and Sodium Bicarbonate) two tablespoons after breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Do you think the symptoms could be related to a hernia tear? I am an athlete. I work out five days a week, including some heavy weight lifting. My cardiovascular output is high. I eat a very strict balanced diet. I do not smoke, and I drink alcohol quite infrequently. I have no addictions. I always take in a lot of water. I notice my symptoms are alleviated when I am lying down.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, your symptoms are not suggestive of a hernia tear. It is great to know that you are an athlete and maintaining your health very well. If you think that lying down worsens your symptoms, please avoid it.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
