I had antibiotics for chest infection. Could that be the reason for swollen penis tip?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Over the last three days, the tip of my penis has become very tight and looks swollen. It is difficult to retract the foreskin and also there was blood after masturbation. This issue started when I used antibiotics for chest infection. Currently I am taking Prednisone for chronic hives and antibiotics for the chest infection.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It seems like posthitis or inflammation of foreskin leading to phimosis. This may require a circumcision sooner or later. Consult your family doctor for this, and he may refer you to a concerned specialist. It is a short day care procedure. Take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Is there anything that I can do to treat it in the meantime?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can keep the part clean with warm water and after drying, apply plain cream once a day in the morning. In the evening you can use a topical steroid cream like Mometasone in small amounts once a day to reduce swelling and itching.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
