How to manage tan, dark, dry and itchy skin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 32-year-old. My hands are very tan, dark, dry, and itchy. I have this in my whole body. Please suggest sunscreen for my hands and to clear my dark skin as I am getting married in two months. Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Tanning from sunlight needs a few weeks to fade. People having type 4 skin produce more melanin on exposure to sunlight. Tanning is a kind of protection from the sun so that we do not burn. To remove this sun tan and avoid further exposure to sunlight, I suggest using sunscreen with SPF (sun protection factor) 50. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before stepping out and repeat applying every 4 hours. Sunscreen provides protection for three to four hours. Hence, need to apply repeatedly. Use Kojic acid, Glycolic acid, and Arbutin combination cream for dark areas at night. Please attach your clinical picture along with your query so that it is convenient for me to comment on your condition and give you appropriate suggestions.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
