Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 18 year old female. I am a cheerleader with a height of 5 feet 4 inches. I was doing roundoff back handspring tucks on the mat. I tumbled for an hour by myself, and I was so tired. I kept landing short, and it would hurt my ankles. I then kept trying, and the next day, the region of my leg five to six inches above my ankle hurts badly when I jump, run, tumble, and is tender to touch. My athletic trainer at school told me it could be a fibula stress fracture. I am concerned about what that could be.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Icliniq.com welcomes you. I understand your concern and will try my best to give you all the answers in a very easy and clear manner.
A fibula stress fracture can be a possibility but more so it can be a swelling of the tendon called tenosynovitis of the peroneal tendons. I suggest you follow a few instructions mentioned below.
Tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg. Take the tablet in the morning and night for ten days after food.
Tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg. Take the tablet in the morning and night for ten days before food.
Tablet Shelcal (Calcium carbonate) 500 mg. Take the tablet morning and night for ten days before food.
Tablet vitamin D 60 K Units. Take the tablet once daily for ten days and then once a month for the next 11 months.
Do not take these tablets if you are having bronchial asthma or are allergic to any of them.
Apply ice over the affected area twice daily.
Stop any activity that causes pain in that area, for at least three weeks.
Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.
I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
