Patient's Query

Hello doctor.

I am a 28-year-old type 2 diabetic who has been diagnosed with the disease for five years. I weigh 238 pounds and stand 5 foot 6 inches tall. I take medicines such as tablet Glucophage 2 grams twice a day, 1000 mg at a time, and tablet Januvia 100 mg once a day. Until a few months ago, my blood sugar was fine, but suddenly I was unable to control it. When I fast and then eat, my blood sugar never falls below 160 mg/dl, and it occasionally rises to 200. I had not been doing any workouts, but I started doing them this month, and I organized my meals, but nothing changed. My blood sugar stayed above 160 mg/dl. What is the problem, and what can I do about it?

Please help

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You look to have diabetes, although you want your post-meal blood sugar levels to be less than 160 mg/dl. First and foremost, your medications are effective, and your efforts are greatly appreciated. All you need to do is stop worrying about your blood sugar levels and instead focus on your HbA1c (glycosylated hemoglobin) levels. If that is good, everything else is fine. Consume foods high in fiber, such as carrots and cucumbers. Consume foods with a low glycemic index, such as whole grains like wheat and oats. Avoid sugar in your tea and avoid any sugary beverages. Consume fibrous foods such as oranges and green apples. Every day, walk for 30 minutes and consume eight to ten glasses of water.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
