Can pregnancy be prevented by taking two Althea pills the next day and two more after 12 hours of unprotected sex?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex on the ninth day of my cycle. I was prescribed the Althea pill (Cyproterone Acetate and Ethinylestradiol). I took two Althea pills a day after the event and took two more pills after 12 hours. Should it be enough to prevent pregnancy? I am very worried.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

We welcome you to icliniq family.

I appreciate the confidence you place in me for your healthcare consultation.

I have gone through your case and I understand your concern. According to your description as you had intercourse on the ninth day so it was likely the safe day so there is less chance of getting pregnant. So there is no need for further intervention. Do not worry, wait for your due date. You should get your periods on your due date which might fluctuate by a week because of some hormonal changes.

Hope this information helps you.

Thank you.
