Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 24 years old, and I had unprotected sex ten days back and again a week before with protection. I had my period in the last month. I want to avoid all the chances of pregnancy. Please help me.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Now you cannot avoid chances of pregnancy in the first intercourse, and it was very unlikely as you had periods. And the last sexual intercourse was with protection, so I think you are mostly safe. Protection will have a failure rate if it is broken.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

Anything can I do to avoid future occurrences, as I have not taken any emergency pills? What can I do or add to my diet to prevent risks?

Thank you.

Hi,

Now, wait for periods to come and after that, you can use oral contraceptive pills.

I hope this information will help.

If I miss my periods, then contraception will be required. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

I understand your concern.

If you are going to miss periods, then check for pregnancy and then start precautions. If the results are negative for pregnancy, then start contraceptive pills.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

What is a contraceptive pill? And is it good to have it? Are there any side effects? Do I even need it after getting periods?

Please help me.

Thanks.

Hi,

Contraceptive pills are hormonal pills used to prevent pregnancy. It has side effects like heaviness in the breast, and pimples. If you want to avoid routine pregnancy, you can start it.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

Regarding the previous query, I need a more detailed answer. What will be the right time to do the test for pregnancy? Even after getting into periods, do I have to be on medicines? What to do if the results are negative? Or what to do if they are positive? Are the side effects of medicines temporary or permanent? I do not have any clue. Please help me in detail.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

After missing periods for seven days, you can go for a pregnancy test for more accurate results. You can go for a urine pregnancy test seven days before the expected date for pregnancy tests. The blood test you have as early as on the expected date of periods. If you get medicine, it is to prevent future pregnancy if you stay in a relationship and have intercourse. So it is your choice to have contraception or not. If your pregnancy test is negative, then nothing to worry about. If it comes positive, then get checked for an ultrasound scan to confirm pregnancy location and viability. Side effects are with all medicines but not seen in everyone.

I hope this information will help.

Thank you.
