Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had sex on the first day of my period which was on 28th two months ago. As it was unprotected, I took the morning after pill within 24 hours. My next period was expected on 28th last month but it has not come yet. I have also done home pregnancy tests three times - the first one after one week of missed period, and the rest two after one week of the first test. All came negative. It has been 42 days now. Should I take the Misoprostol kit? Please note my current medication: Medroxyprogesterone acetate 10 mg.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As the pregnancy test is negative, there is no need to consider Misoprostol kit at all. The delay can be a side effect of the morning after pill in itself which is quite common where the next one or two cycles are delayed or get regular. You can opt for progesterone withdrawal to initiate your menses. I believe you are already on Medroxyprogesterone acetate. The day you shall stop it, in the next five to seven days, you shall get your menses.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
