Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 22 years old. I believe I may have a bladder infection or bacterial infection. In an attempt to improve my situation, I applied apple cider vinegar to my groin but it did not help. Instead, I developed a persistent rash or these bumps that will not seem to go away. It has been nearly a week, and there has been no improvement. I consulted the doctor, and she mentioned that she was checking for herpes. She prescribed Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim for my infection, but it does not appear to be effective, as I still experience pain during urination and frequent urination. It has become so uncomfortable that I have reached the point where I do not want to drink anything. I have a recurring history of bacterial infections that occur every time I engage in sexual activity with my partner. I am currently taking tablets of a combination of Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim. I have previously taken medication for bacterial infections, but not specifically for bladder infections. This is the first time I am experiencing a bladder infection.

Kindly help

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq, and thank you for choosing us as your provider for health care.

I have gone through all your details and appreciate your concern. It is probably a urinary tract infection. You should get a urine routine and microscopy test done to confirm the infection. You should also provide a sample for urine culture sensitivity. I will suggest you take an antibiotic-like tablet Nitrofurantoin 100 mg twice a day for a week, along with an antacid tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast once a day for a week. You should drink plenty of water and take two teaspoons of syrup Cital (Disodium hydrogen citrate) in half a glass of water three times a day for pain. Additionally, you can take the tablet Pyridium (Phenazopyridine) 200 mg three times a day for two days only, especially if the syrup is not helping with the pain. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicines with their consent.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at icliniq. Thank you.
