Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am using a penile pump under the guidance of a urologist. Over the course of five days, I believe I may have overstretched my penis, resulting in a loss of sensitivity and soreness, along with an inability to achieve an erection.
Do you know if the sensation and soreness will improve, and how long it might take? What treatment options are available? The numbness in my penis is very distracting, and I am concerned about how much damage the penile pump might have caused.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
A penile pump is a type of physical or mechanical treatment. Have you tried oral PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) inhibitors, such as Sildenafil? It is not advisable to use a penile pump for extended periods, as any form of physical treatment can potentially cause damage. I advise against continuing to use the penile pump, especially since it appears to be causing physical harm. It is possible that the technique you are using may be incorrect. Numbness and soreness are common and should eventually return to normal, but the exact timeline is unpredictable; it could take four to six weeks.
If you are interested, I can guide you on the use of injection therapy, where erection-inducing drugs are injected into the penis with a small syringe before intercourse (please note, you should not have any heart conditions for this therapy). Injection therapy also has some side effects. For now, I recommend discontinuing the use of the pump and allowing time for healing. If you wish to continue using it, please ensure you are familiar with the correct technique.
Thanks and regards.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I have noticed that my penis is often cold to the touch, which suggests that circulation might not be functioning well. Hopefully, there will not be any skin damage due to the lack of circulation. I will wait another four to six weeks.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Yes, these issues are common with the use of a pump, as it can cause circulation problems as well. It is better to wait for four to six weeks and then reassess. I believe it should resolve within that time frame.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
