What could be the reason for disturbed vision after getting stuck with something in the eyes?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had something stuck in my eye a few years back. Two months after the incident, I stared seeing a football-like shape for which I consulted a doctor, who said I had a cataract in my right eye and underwent surgery for the same. But the problem still persisted, and I consulted a retina specialist. The doctor said I had blood in my eye. The doctor suggested laser surgery to fix teh vision. I can see some callus or cyst-like thing in my eye. I have good peripheral vision in my right eye. What should I do about this? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

The trauma may lead to cataracts as well as bleeding in the vitreous cavity, medically known as vitreous hemorrhage. In severe cases, it may even damage your retina, leading to these symptoms. Your retina specialist may be able to discuss with you the extent of the damage and the resulting signs and symptoms. Thank you.
