Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been having trouble losing weight, despite a regimented workout schedule and eating properly for over two months. I have not lost a single pound. I had a blood or saliva test and it showed low Progesterone of 32 and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) of 11. My thyroid, cortisol, DHEAS (Dehydroepiandrosterone), TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), insulin, and hemoglobin levels are all normal. Please guide.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

From the reports you have attached (attachments removed to protect patient identity), it does not seem that you have low progesterone since it is at par with your age. During peri-menopause or menopausal at your age which you have mentioned there is no need for any progesterone replacement. Weight loss takes time. Continue your efforts patiently and you will drop weight. It is a long-term effort. Sometimes the muscles get used to our exercise patterns so it might be tough to lose weight. You must try something new or use alternate high and low-intensity workouts.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
