How to effectively manage dust allergy?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a wheezing problem and shortness of breath when I catch a cold. I have also noticed that I have a dust allergy. My problem is increasing day by day, and now I have to use a Levosalbutamol inhaler three times a day. Are there any measures I can take to control my condition?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The entire problem can be attributed to dust allergy and bronchospasm triggered by cold. I would suggest continuing the inhaler therapy for at least three months, conducting a patch test to identify the allergen, and ensuring a dust-free environment (as dust can harbor mites that are known to cause allergies). Since you mentioned that your problem is increasing day by day, I would recommend an ECG (electrocardiogram) and an echo (echocardiogram) to rule out any potential cardiac causes, as typically, once the cold or allergy is addressed, patients return to normal.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
