Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had my periods a month back, after which we had unprotected sex a week later, and I had Unwanted 72 within an hour. After that, on the 5th of this month, I started bleeding. Now when will I get my periods again?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I would request to share the following details for better consultation. The date of the last menstrual period prior to bleeding on the 5th of this month? How was the flow during the bleeding on the 5th of this month, and for how many days? Is there any history of irregular or delayed periods? I need your weight and height, and are you on any medication, etc. Nevertheless, based upon the information presented by you, I feel that the bleeding (if it was not your due date for periods) on the 5th of this month was most probably withdrawal bleeding as you had an emergency contraceptive pill on the previous month. These pills are hormone-based, and they lead to little bleeding in certain females within a week to ten days of dose. Also, these pills lead to delay in regular periods of certain females. So there can be a delay of around ten days approximately in your periods. Are you having any signs of period onset? Do not worry. It is fine, and you will have a delay, as explained above, of around ten days from your expected date. Please share the details I requested so that I can help you better.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Last menstrual was on the last week of the previous month, and the bleeding lasted for five days. On the 5th of this month, I started bleeding post taking Unwanted 72. As per my normal bleeding days, the flow was also normal, and I have no history of irregular periods. I am having tender breasts and also a feeling as if I will get my periods, and there is a slight pain in my lower abdomen but not yet got them.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the detailed information. As you are having signs of periods, we can wait for 3-4 days as you had a dose of emergency contraceptive pills. I had requested your height and weight. I hope you are maintaining a healthy weight. Do a brisk walk for an hour or some light exercise combination, and you shall get your period.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
