Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Why is it that every time I have sex with my fiance, I get a yeast infection? Please help. I am scared of having sex now because of the irritation, itching, and discharge I have later. What can I do to solve this problem? Are there any creams or tablets that I can take? And is this a temporary thing or will it happen every time we have sex?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
If you have developed a yeast infection after having intercourse, then it is likely that it has been transferred to you by your partner. He needs to be treated with antifungal medication after getting a urethral culture done to confirm the infection. At present, you may opt for Clingen vaginal pessary (a combination of Clindamycin, Clotrimazole, and Tinidazole) once at night per vaginally for six days and capsule Itraconazole 200 mg once a day for three days. This will help treat the infection completely. Avoid sex for a week till you are treated. Also, ensure that your partner is treated before you have sex again.
Regards.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
But, does that mean I am allergic to my partner since it happens all the time? Or is this temporary? And is this normal?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
No, it does not mean that you are allergic, but it simply means that your fiance may be carrying an infection, which is old, and he has transferred it to you during sex. This is treatable with medication. Get a vaginal swab culture done and review with reports.
