Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been struggling with gastrointestinal issues for four months. My abdomen always makes these growling, high-pitched bubbling, and gurgling noises all day long. It makes these noises in the mornings when I wake up, during the day, and at night when I go to sleep despite what I eat or drink during the day. It is embarrassing and negatively impacts my social life. These noises are accompanied by bouts of either constipation or diarrhea, as well as bloating and abdominal pain.

I saw a gastrointestinal specialist back in January. They said I likely have IBS but wanted to do an upper endoscopy to rule out any stomach ulcers. I had an upper endoscopy done last month, and they did not find any abnormalities, so my doctor concluded it was IBS. I have been exercising regularly and eating a low FODMAP diet for several weeks now, and yet my symptoms are not getting any better.

What do I do at this point? I want to do more testing to check if there is some kind of intestinal blockage because the noises my abdomen makes are destroying my social life, and I do not ever want to leave my apartment. I have had to call into work multiple times too. I need to get to the bottom of what this is and how to treat it. Currently, I am on Lo Loestrin Fe once a day.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Get physically examined and investigated to rule out any medical condition and treat accordingly. Please share reports to guide you appropriately in detail. You can get specific tests to rule out celiac and Crohn's disease. You can use Lacto bacilli supplements twice daily after meals after consultation with your doctor. Diet modification is also advised. Avoid dairy or wheat for a while. Start walking, yoga, or any exercise as health permits, and it will gradually help you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
