Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

For the past months, I noticed that I am getting some tiny bumps on my face, and then I also noticed that my T-zone area became more oily. Just about the last three weeks, pimples started to show up mostly in my forehead. I had this same kind of problem several months ago only. I know I had been so stressed lately and cannot even get enough sleep. But may I know if I can take some medicines orally to reduce the pimples' redness and the building up. I used Salicylic based face wash and toner. And I did not take any medication for my sleeping problem. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Do you have any history of atopy or allergies? Do you have sensitive acne-prone skin? Do you use any cosmetic products? Any contact with chemical irritant? Do you have contact dermatitis? Do you have any history of photosensitivity? Do you have acne or rosacea (red patches or visible blood vessels on the face)? Do you have any aggravating factors? Do you have a hormonal imbalance, fluctuations, or stress? Do you have PCOD? Please reply.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, at the T-zone only. My cheeks are dry, and the T-Zone is oily. Also, yesterday, I noticed that there were tiny bumps in my chest area. I used cosmetic products like tea tree oil-based facial wash and toner. I also used aloe vera soothing gel as a moisturizer before but already stopped (about three weeks ago). I am currently using Neutrogena deep clean blackhead, eliminating daily scrub and Neutrogena deep clean blackhead eliminating cooling toner for the past two weeks. The ordinary Niacinamide with Zinc serum for the past week. I do not have a history of irritant chemical contact and contact dermatitis. I do not have any history of photosensitivity and atopy or allergies. Several years ago, I had an allergy (little rashes builds-up) when I took too many egg yolks or chicken. I do not have any history of acne or rosacea. When I am in a hot environment, aggravating factors get worse, and when I used the aloe vera soothing gel as a moisturizer. My menstruation cycle happens every month, but I noticed that for the past months, the period flow is low or in less amount compared to my normal flow before. Yes, I have a history of stress. I do not have any history of PCOD. Thank you so much, doctor, for replying. This means a lot to me.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Relax and make yourself stress-free as stress is a significant contributing factor. Acne breakouts are widespread in the early twenties due to hormonal changes occurring in the body. Avoid cosmetic products that cause irritation, burning, reaction. It is acne grade 2 (papular inflammatory lesions are seen). Take Tablet Doxycycline 100 mg once in a day after breakfast for two weeks (or) Tab Azithromycin 500 mg once in a day (before breakfast) for three days a week. (Anyone of the two). Use Epiduo gel (Benzoyl peroxide 2.5 percent and Adapalene) once in night application for 15 days. Apply Acnesol (Tretinoin) gel at daytime for 15 days and Cetaphil Moisturizer twice daily (in morning and afternoon) for 20 days. Use sunscreen (photostable sunscreen) at 9 AM - 12 PM - 3 PM daily for 20 days and 30 minutes before going outdoors and D Acne (Allantoin, Clindamycin, and Niacinamide) face wash twice daily for 15 days. Please avoid scratching or rubbing lesions as it may cause secondary bacterial infection and scarring. If you have a burning sensation, due to Epiduo gel, get back immediately. Avoid oily food, junk food, dairy products, egg yolks, fatty carbs, high-calorie diet, and spicy food. Try to eat vitamin A-rich foods like carrot, papaya, muskmelon, and spinach. Drink two to three liters of water daily. Have a follow-up for any doubts.
