Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am concerned about the things on my face and I am not sure if it is due to acne or razor bumps. I have had them since the time I shaved my face and it looks like acne. How to know the difference and what are the natural ways to cure it? Should I use products for oily or dry face? Kindly suggest your opinion.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for choosing us as your provider for medical care.

I read your query and from the given picture (image removed to protect the patient’s identity), it seems to be forehead acne. Acne vulgaris is a common skin problem in adolescents and adulthood it involves pilosebaceous follicles or oil glands and is therefore seen to involve areas where oil glands are dense like the face, chest, back, and upper arms as these are the common sites. Your case seems to be grade 1 to grade 2 acne. I suggest you do the following:

  1. Apply 1% Clindamycin gel during the day over the pimples.

  2. Apply 0.1% Adapalene gel at night over the whole face for about two to three months. You might experience a mild burning sensation with Adapalene hence, use it in small quantity.

  3. Do not to use hair oil as it can aggravate your acne.

  4. You can use Acnacidol (Ridacne) foaming face wash.

  5. Follow certain dietary restrictions like not taking oily or spicy foods, junk foods, milk products, and non-vegetarian foods.

  6. Drink lots of water as it hydrates your skin.

We look forward to serving you again.

Thank you.
