Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had stomach pains with an anal discharge of mucous, pus, and very little blood for five weeks. Stool samples were negative, and I had colonoscopy and endoscopy within a week. Years ago, I was diagnosed with IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) and GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease). I started taking Amoxicillin and Augmentin Liquid with an iron supplement along with yogurt as I cannot swallow pills.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

These are rectal symptoms that commonly include rectal bleeding, mucus, pus, incomplete evacuation, and urgency ( rushing to the restroom). Various conditions could cause this, but considering your age, it could be ulcerative proctitis or colitis, colorectal carcinoma. A colonoscopy is a modality to diagnose the underlying cause of your symptoms. No other test is as sensitive as colonoscopy. Meanwhile, for bleeding, you can use Capsule Tranxemic acid (Cyklokapron) 500 mg thrice daily for three to five days till bleeding stops. Bleeding cannot be explained by IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). And let me know which stool sample you did.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
