Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I feel some discomfort and mild pain in the area of the anus while sitting down. Sometimes the pain is more. There is no bleeding involved. I cannot see or touch the area. I also feel that there is some dysfunction in the erection of my penis. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. The symptoms you mention can be due to anal fissure, which is a breach in the lining of the anal canal. This can not be palpated with fingers. You should use the following medicines for at least two weeks to see if they improve your symptoms. In most patients, the symptoms resolve in the first few days of use of medicines, but the fissure takes a variable time ranging from two weeks to six weeks before proper healing occurs.

1. Use Isabgol husk (Psyllium husk) two tablespoons full in water daily.

2. Apply Xylocaine (Lidocaine) gel 2 % three times in the anal area with a finger.

3. Apply Glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) gel thrice daily in the anal area using a finger.

4. Sitz bath - sit in slightly warm water daily for 10 minutes after showering.

5. Consume at least eight glasses of water.

Follow up after a week or earlier to update me about your symptoms.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
