Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have an ankle sprain and I also visited our nearest hospital. They said that it is a ligament injury maybe the third phase. How much time will it take to completely heal the ligament?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is good that you went for a check-up. Did you get an MRI? A ligament injury can be confirmed by MRI. For any ankle ligament injury, you have to get the plaster to immobilize the ankle that will automatically heal the damaged ligament. If you do not immobilize the ankle by not applying a cast or plaster then your continuous movement of the ankle will not allow repair of the ligament. This will take approximately three to four months time to heal. But you need to have the plaster for at least 45 days. Please feel free to follow up with me to know more details. Kindly send the X-ray and prescription to have a second opinion on your condition.

Thank you.
