Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am currently taking Allegron TCA 75 mg. Previously I was on Effexor, which was good except for delayed orgasm. So my doctor decided to taper and switched me to Allegron. I am currently experiencing anger and overwhelming or sad crying at times. I am not sure if this is from tapering Effexor or Allegron. I was also meant to take 250 mg of Lithium, which I did take only for two days but stopped as I feel flat on it and not myself in the past. I also lost a patch of my hair in the last eight months.
I feel a mood stabilizer makes me flat and slow.
Can I switch back directly to Effexor, Lexapro, or Zoloft SSRI?
I have had good results while using Lexapro, but I get an upset stomach, and with Effexor, I have more energy. Lexapro can take any time in the day, while Effexor should be taken only at night.
I have not used Zoloft before, so I was wondering if I could try that.
Which one will give me energy and feel like myself and can concentrate but not block emotions?
I exercise, meditate, and also work full time.
Please give me as many details and options as possible around medications.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist.
I can understand your situation. You need to gradually taper your tablet Allegron 75 mg (Nortriptyline), and you can take a tablet Wellbutrin (Bupropion hydrochloride) 75 mg. It is one of the best medications that have minimal sexual side effects and less gastrointestinal trouble. You should take tablet Allegron 50 mg for four weeks, then 25 mg for another four weeks before stopping it. At the same time, you can start your Wellbutrin 75 mg daily in the morning after breakfast.
Lexapro (Escitalopram oxalate) and Zoloft (Sertraline hydrochloride) belong to the same group of medication.
I hope that you get your answer.
Take care.
