Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am hypertensive and asthmatic. I take the tablets Telma AM and Foracort 500 mg. Recently, I had a breathing issue and was later diagnosed with GERD, for which I used medication for three weeks, and it was fine. I was on a low-calorie diet for the last three months and lost almost 26.45 lbs. After losing weight, I stopped taking my blood pressure medication. I am severely constipated, for which I use Ayurvedic laxatives. Last week I started my normal high-calorie diet. My stools were like liquid, and I felt some digestion issues. A lot of burns and the release of gas. If I eat food, I feel a little burning sensation in my heart, mild tightness in my stomach, and liquid-like stools. Kindly help me with some medication. I also have some urology issues, for which yesterday my RBC in urine was 6 to 8 million per cubic millimeter and my epithelial cells were 4 to 5 million per cubic millimeter.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You need to keep a few tablets of Pantop-D (Pantoprazole and Domperidone) with you. It can be used for two to three days when you have excess reflux symptoms like gas and burps. I would stop the Ayurvedic medicine which you are taking for constipation. It is better to have mild laxatives like syrup Cremaffin plus (Sodium Picosulfate and Liquid Paraffin) 20 ml at bedtime whenever you experience hard stools. Have adequate water daily, and target around two to three liters.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

If I stop taking the take laxative, I will not be able to pass the stools at all. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Laxatives can be taken as and when needed. It will not do any harm. But always try to adjust your diet and bowel habits to reduce the frequency of laxatives. Always choose laxatives with contents well known. Concentrate on diet modification too. Avoid constipating foods, including baked, maize-based, red meat, etc. Add more fiber-rich foods. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
