Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

For a military medical test, I want to decrease the axial length of my eye by 0.2 mm. Can the axial length of the eye be decreased by 0.2 mm temporarily just for an eye checkup? I had myopia, but I got a LASIK done, so now I have a perfect vision.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Eye length cannot be decreased. However, if you are contemplating temporarily correcting your refractive error, then Ortho-K (orthokeratology) lenses are worth a try. They are worn overnight, and refractive error is corrected. But you have to use them every night. 0.2 mm change is usually within the preview of instrument error. A scan may note 23 mm as axial length and also as 23.2 mm in the next sitting.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
