HomeAnswersDermatologyblack spotsI am usually sleep-deprived and have black spots. Why?

Is it possible to develop black spots around the eyes due to sleep deprivation or excess screen time?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My face was very clear before and I do not know if it is because of sleep deprivation as I sleep around 2 to 3 AM usually, or staring at the phone screen for a long time, or other reasons but there are some black dot-like spots around my eyes. I have not applied any sort of creams or spot treatments yet. I will upload my before and after pictures so you can have a better look at them. Please suggest some skin creams also for acne and facial smoothness. The first three pictures are the current ones. The last one was six months before.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Lifestyle, sleep, and stress are the cause and once you remove these factors dark circle too goes slowly. But you may use some creams and other treatments.

1. Chemical peeling that includes arginine, lactic acid, and yellow peel may help.

2. Sunscreen.

3. Vitamin C serum.

4. Camouflage creams.

5. Other peels like glycolic acid or kojic acid peels also have good results.

Post-peel management is more important in treating dark circles with a chemical peel.

Pimple is somewhat hormonal and due to oily skin.

1. Do not use hair oil and any sticky cream on the face.

2. Avoid oily food, chocolates, and milk products.

3. Avoid dust, and always use sunscreen (above 30 SPF).

4. Do not rub any cream on your face.

5. Do not use any steroid creams.

6. Continue treatment at least for a month.

7. Avoid touching or pressing the acne.

For treatment, I suggest the following.

1. Clindamycin gel. This is more preventive and curative so I tell patients to use it all over the face in the morning.

2. Adapalene gel. I advise using it over acne at night.

3. Tablet Doxycycline 100 mg once a day.

However, please consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.
