Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Yesterday I had an appointment with my obstetrics gynecologist for the first time after finding out I was pregnant. They told me I was five weeks and three days pregnant. They did an ultrasound, blood pressure check, and urine test. Everything was normal. They could see the sack of the baby. Furthermore, the doctor said everything is in the way it is supposed to be at five weeks, but today, after sex, I started to have light bleeding, and now I have pinkish spotting. Is this normal?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

As you are spotting or bleeding after intercourse, it is not normal; take bed rest, get your ultrasound for fetal well-being, and it would be helpful to take progesterone to support pregnancy.

I hope you find it helpful.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I learned about pregnancy after intercourse. Will it be normal? Do you think it is a problem for the baby?

Answered by Dr. Richa Agarwal

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, it could be normal, but in early pregnancy, it is better to avoid it. Because uterine contraction due to sex may cause this. But low-lying placenta may also cause spotting.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Is that a problem or a normal thing if it is a low-lying placenta? And also, my next appointment is in two weeks. So should I go before my appointment or wait?

Answered by Dr. Richa Agarwal

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, the low-lying placenta may cause bleeding. If bleeding is persistent, it is better to go to your treating doctor early.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

And if the bleeding stops, should I wait?
