Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been passing blood in my stools. A lot more than a handful, dark in color (something like maroon color) for the past week. Every time the blood goes out, my head starts aching. I cannot feel the blood going out. I am not able to pass the stools because I am too scared of blood loss. I do not have any other medical issues. What is the reason for this? Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing, and I understand your concern.

This can be a case of anal fissures, hemorrhoids, or ulcers because such bleeding can be seen when there is a rupture in the mucosa. So I would suggest you consult a general surgeon so he can do a DRE (digital rectal examination), and then treatment can be given accordingly. Such bleeding can also occur when there is constipation. So first, we have to treat constipation. I suggest you take syrup Cremaffin (Liquid paraffin, Milk of magnesia and Sodium picosulphate), 15 ml once before sleeping. Tablet Tranexamic acid, 500 mg once after a meal (to stop the bleeding).

Please answer the below questions so that I can help you further.

1. Do you have abdominal pain?

2. Do you have difficulty passing stool?

3. Do you feel weak?

Do revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
