Is the ovoid nodule related to my dermatofibrosarcoma?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I would like to know what does the following means from an MRI report.

An ovoid nodular structure with postcontrast enhancement is measured at approximately 10 x 15 mm in the superior left breast. Recommend correlation with breast imaging. I already have dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, which is planned to be removed in a few weeks.

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for the query.

I can understand your concern.

According to your statement, you have recently done an MRI, and you want to know about the MRI report (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).

At the upper part of your left breast, the statement says an oval-shaped growth of abnormal tissue called a nodule is found that measures 10×15 mm after using contrast in an MRI procedure, and recommends correlation with your other breast imaging report for an accurate description.

As the growth of abnormal tissue or nodule is found in your left breast, surgical excision is indicated or recommended. After surgical removal of your left breast nodule, a histopathology report will confirm the diagnosis and the underlying pathology. In such a procedure, your previous report of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans has to be done.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
