Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing a severe issue with my lips for the past six months. The problem involves intense chapping and cracking of my lips. Dryness and itching are not present; rather, the focus is on severe cracking. I attempted to address this by using an ointment and B complex tablets, but unfortunately, these measures did not yield any improvement. Kindly help.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am attaching my photos, you can notice fissures on my lips. The skin on my lips is developing cracks and peeling off approximately every week. Although I tried using B complex tablets and ointments, they have proven ineffective.

I have reviewed the reports you attached (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity), yes, I can observe the crusted lesions on the upper lip. I suggest you follow these below mentioned instructions:

  1. Refrain from licking your lips with your tongue or picking at them with your teeth.
  2. Apply a cream containing Betamethasone and Fusidic acid twice a day.
  3. Take one tablet of antioxidant every morning after breakfast.
  4. For the treatment to be effective, please avoid picking or licking your lips.

I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

For how many days should I continue using these tablets and cream? Could you please provide me with a prescription that I can take to the pharmacy?

Answered by Dr. Payal Chauhan

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest you use them for a duration of three weeks. The tablets can be continued for more than a month if needed, but the cream should not be used for more than three weeks. After this period, kindly follow-up. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
