Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a stabbing pain in my left side of the chest for a few seconds and the pain extends to the back and the left arm. The previous history of the current complaint was about two months back.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. From the given information, the pain does not appear to be cardiac pain, but I suggest you take an electrocardiogram (ECG) to rule out cardiac problems if any. The symptoms could be most likely due to gastritis and reflux disease. I would like to know if you have any upper abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, burping, sour water feeling in the throat, or chest burning. If yes, it could indicate acidity. Does this pain increase on deep breathing? If so, it suggests that the pain is arising from the lining of the lungs, which mostly occurs due to an infection, and resolves on its own. If required, you can take an over-the-counter medication like Paracetamol. If it does not resolve, then further investigation is required. Avoid fatty, oily, and high-calorie diets. Try to take a short walk after having your meals instead of taking rest. Take multiple small meals instead of heavy meals. Follow regular sleep habits and avoid stress. Include lots of green leafy vegetables and fruits. Avoid smoking and alcohol, if any. I suggest you take tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg before breakfast once a day for two weeks. I hope you got answers for all the queries you had. Please follow-up if needed. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
