Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have sinusitis problem for a very long time, and recently I had tooth decay as well. The doctor I consulted earlier suggested root canal treatment, but I am yet to go for that.

My problem right now is I have a blocked nose, mild inner ear pain, sore throat, and sometimes cough. No fever. I have this for the past three to four months. Because of COVID-19, I did not go to any doctor, hospital physically to avoid undue exposure. I have been trying out home remedies, but no use. Recently about two weeks back, I also developed mild eye pain, itching, and irritation. I feel my eyelids to be heavy and swollen, but this is not visible to the naked eye that much. I work about 15 to 16 hours a day on a computer with four to five hours of sleep. So it might be because of this as well. But I do not know. No redness in eyes. When I blink sometimes, I feel mild pain.

I feel because of tooth decay, and my problem is aggravated. The bacterial decay goes down my throat and causes infection in my throat. That is what I think but not sure.

Please suggest medications to control blocked nose, ear pain, eye problem, sore throat, and sometimes cough. I have not traveled anywhere in the last six months, and I am working from home for the last six months to give you a background. I also have a history of epilepsy, although I am not taking medications for that now. Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from sinusitis, tooth decay, blocked nose, earache, sore throat, cough, and itchy eyes.

You can take the medications as follows:-

Tablet Azee 500 mg once daily at night for 7 to 10 days, tablet Allegra (Fexofenadine)120 mg once daily at night for 10 days, tablet Singulair 10 mg once daily at night for 15 days, and tablet Vimovo (500/20) twice daily in the morning and evening for 10 days. Otrivin-O 0.5% w/v nasal drop one to two drops in each nostril twice or thrice daily in case of nasal blockage.

By taking the above-mentioned medication, you may be able to subside your present sufferings. But for your tooth decay, you may need root canal treatment.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Can you suggest any ear drops for pain? What about eye irritation and burning pain?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I think your eye itching, irritation, eyelids swelling may result from allergies and eye strains due to spending more time on a computer screen with lacking proper sleep. As I have already mentioned some medications for controlling allergy, no eye drops may be needed. Proper sleep and less spending time on the computer screen will rest your eyes and help relieve your eye pain.

You can use Ciplox (Ciprofloxacin) ear drops 1-2 drops in each ear twice daily for your ear pain. You can gargle with salt mixed lukewarm water three to four times daily for your sore throat and stream inhalation mixed with Menthol three to four times daily for sinusitis.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Tablet Vimovo is not available.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can take capsule Arthopan (500/20) instead of using Vimovo. Or you can take any brand which contains both Esomeprazole and Naproxen. Or you can take plain Naproxen with any anti-ulcerant medications. You can take Arthopan, which contains both Naproxen and Pantoprazole, for 10 days.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I had on and off fungal skin infection. Doctor said it is because of too much antibiotics. Can you also suggest a probiotic supplement along with these medications?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can take the probiotics capsules. For your fungal infection, you can take tablet Tebina (Terbinafine) 250 mg 0+1+0 for four to six weeks and Terbinaforce-Plus cream.

Apply locally on your affected area until fully healed.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
