Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing constipation and diarrhea for ten weeks. My colonoscopy reports came negative. I stopped taking Iron tablets five days before the procedure, but I accidentally took one tablet two days before the procedure. I focused on getting my bowel movements right before the procedure. My doctor said that my bowel movements were good. I also underwent a computed tomography (CT) scan, and nothing major was found, but I am worried as the doctor wants to meet me to discuss the findings of the CT scan in detail.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Do not worry, as iron tablets have not affected the results. They ask to stop iron tablets so that they can get a clear vision of the intestines. You took one tablet two days before the procedure, but that might have dissolved before colonoscopy. Let us wait for your computed tomography (CT) reports. Can you tell me about your current medications?

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

If the doctor felt that iron tablets were impairing vision, he would have rescheduled the procedure. I experience constipation and diarrhea, and I pass big yellow stools that block the toilet. I do not take any medications. The doctor advised that there was nothing serious on the computed tomography (CT) scan and that he will meet after ten days to discuss the results. I will attach the reports of the CT scan after I receive them. Can contrast-induced CT scans show tumors?

Answered by Dr. Sugreev Singh

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Iron tablets would have metabolized by that time. A contrast-induced computed tomography (CT) scan shows the underlying condition and tumors or abnormal growths. However, your symptoms are due to infection, and everything will be alright after proper treatment. You can go for stool culture and sensitivity tests to know about the infection.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
