Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am planning to have a baby and trying to conceive. So I would like to know what medicines I can take and the diet plan I should follow. I recently took an ultrasound and have attached the reports for your reference.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your query.

Yes, your ultrasound (attachment removed to protect patient identity) is normal, and there is nothing to be concerned about.

1. In medicines, just a single tablet is to be taken, tablet Folic acid 5 mg once daily. This is started at least one month before conceiving to prevent neural tube defects in the baby.

2. In diet, nothing specific is required, but yes, include more fruits and vegetables in your diet as they contain antioxidants that are helpful for overall health and also for conceiving.

3. Also, avoid fried and oily food as much as possible.

4. Apart from this, include some form of exercise or physical activity in your lifestyle. This will also be helpful.

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply. I am concerned about my weight. Is it normal, or am I overweight? Please let me know. I ate so much junk food last week, and I am now avoiding it.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Your weight is on the higher side. You are in the overweight category. So it is better to reduce your weight while trying to conceive. At least it would be best if you lost 5 kg to reach the normal range so that no complication arises during pregnancy.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
