Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I cannot empty my bowel at once in the morning after the bowel movement in the morning. I get an urge again after an hour or so or after eating something. How do I empty my bowels completely? I took psyllium husk, it causes a lot of gas so I have stopped taking it and mucous discharge happens with most of the bowel movements. It feels like rectum has not been emptied completely, and whenever I masturbate I get an urge to defecate and nothing but clear mucus comes out and in the next bowel movement too.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The basic issue with you is underlying constipation. You need to take a few measures. Avoid constipating foods, Keep yourself well hydrated with two to three liters of water daily. Never strain at stools. Take Lactifibre two spoons at night for three days whenever you have more symptoms. Follow the strict plan for three to four weeks. You will definitely find a difference. Your attached stool test reports are normal (attachment removed to protect patient identity). The mucus passage and sensation for toilet happens whenever you have a hormonal surge. It is normal.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Actually, the mucous passage causes irritation and I feel it can automatically come out from anal opening at any time. That is why I am a bit cautious about mucus, sometimes it just blocks the passage and I have to manually clear the way for stool by inserting my finger which is a very disgusting thing. And sometimes if I do not insert a finger into the area near the anal opening, very small pieces of stool just stick there and become hard and does not allow next bowel movement to occur normally. I am willing to take any measure. It is just that I want this to end. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The sticky stools are mainly due to constipation. This results in stagnant stools in the rectal pouch. Secondary irritation of the mucosa by the stools cause excess mucus. The stagnant stools make you attempt manual evacuation. Avoid digital self-evaluation. It is a bit habit forming. Try modifying constipation by the measures I have given earlier. Do consider a review after two weeks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
