Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I had unprotected sex weeks before and I took i-pill the next day. My periods are due on 18th of every month but 14 days after taking i-pill, I had two to three drops of blood and did not get proper periods. Again after one and a half weeks, I thought I am having periods, but just two to three drops of blood. Last night, we had protected sex but when my partner ejected out, he ejaculated on his hand. The condom did not get torn though. I am really scared now. Should I take the i-pill again?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your history and understand your concern. I will try my best to help you. If no spillage of semen inside the vagina and no touching of the vagina with his semen in hand then no need of taking i-pill. And the menstrual irregularities through which you are going is the side effect of i-pill. But still to be on the safer side take a pregnancy test and if the test is negative no problem.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
Can a pregnancy test be taken just after the next day of intercourse?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
This pregnancy test is for your last unprotected intercourse, so you can take the test right now. Otherwise, pregnancy test ideally should be done at least three weeks from the last intercourse. Your last intercourse was protected so chances of pregnancy are less provided what I mentioned in the earlier discussion is not there.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
We are not sure of last night and I am thinking of taking the pill. Could you please advise me if is it fine to take two i-pills in less than a month's time frame? I know the ill effects of i-pill but I do not think I have an option now. Will taking the pill have any major negative consequences? Please advise as I am really scared.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
If you are not sure of your last act then yes, you have no other options. Side effects of i-pill are lesser than being pregnant and to prevent pregnancy this is the best drug. Spotting, withdrawal bleeding, early or delayed period are common side effects of repeated dose of i-pill. Otherwise no major side effect or long term effect of i-pill on health. So if in doubt take i-pill. It is the best available option for you.
I hope this helps.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
And it is already been 12 hours but I will ensure to take it within 24 hours. Will that be fine? Do I need to consult a gynecologist if I do not get proper periods soon? Or is this something that will be corrected on its own?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I-pill has to be taken at earliest within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. So within 24 hours, it is fine. You have to wait for your period and in-between keep on testing pregnancy by urine pregnancy kit weekly. If the test is negative you have to wait for your natural onset of period. If you face some problem you can consult me.
