Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have pain above my chest and below my neck while applying pressure to that area. I do not have any other symptoms. When I am at rest, I do not have any pain.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I understand your concern. This is a symptom of costochondritis. It is a soft tissue and cartilage pain. Since how long do you have this symptom? Any swelling or redness over that area?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor

Thank you for the reply. I do not have any swelling or redness. However, the pain has been present for one week.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. I understand your concern. Please answer the following questions: 1. Do you lift any heavy weights? 2. Do you have a bad posture while sitting or sleeping in the past? 3. Do you have vitamin D3 deficiency? 4. Do you drink milk regularly? 5. Do you eat non-vegetarian food?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply. I have a desk job, and the whole day I work in a sitting position. I do not lift any weights. I do not drink milk. However, I drink coffee and tea, and I have non-vegetarian food once a week.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. I understand your concern. There is a possibility of musculoskeletal pain due to costochondritis. Check your vitamin D3 level, and you will need supplements if there is a deficiency. For now, I suggest the following: 1. Painkiller Dolo 650 (Acetoaminophin) twice a day. 2. Apply Volini gel (Diclofenac diethylamine) thrice daily. 3. Avoid prolonged sitting in a chair. Take a break of five to six minutes every 40 to 45 minutes. During that break, you can walk or do stretching exercises.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply. How long will it take to cure without any medication or therapy?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. I understand your concern. If you take breaks and do stretching exercises with vitamin D3 supplements, it will gradually improve in two to three weeks. But do get vitamin D3 tests done so that you can start supplements. You can also do ice packs and warm cloth massages alternatively. Use proper chair support, which is available in the market.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
