Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My brother has completed his annual health checkup and received the lab reports. I am attaching all the reports. Could you please review them and let me know if we should be concerned about anything, especially regarding creatinine levels or diabetes?
Please suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have reviewed the reports you sent (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). Does he have any complaints? Is he hypertensive? Does he have any past history of surgeries or medications? Is there a history of renal diseases in his family (parents or siblings)? All his reports are fine except for the creatinine levels, which need further investigation.
Please provide the answers to these questions so I can guide you better.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
He has no complaints and does not have hypertension. He is not taking any medications. Our paternal grandmother has undergone dialysis. Please provide your valuable advice.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I believe he currently needs an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis to assess kidney status and check for any swelling in the kidneys, such as hydronephrosis or hydroureter. It would be prudent to repeat the serum creatinine test at a different laboratory to reconfirm the value, as it is surprising that only the creatinine level is elevated while all other reports, including urine tests, are normal. If there were an issue, we would expect to see some abnormalities in the urine report, which is not the case. Therefore, reconfirming the creatinine value at another laboratory and getting the ultrasound done are advisable. Based on these reports, we can determine the next steps.
Thank you.
