Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have got all four wisdom teeth taken out. But my bottom jaw of teeth is still crowded. I have also read somewhere that drilling out teeth as the answer is a mutilating act against your body, even wisdom teeth. So I would like your thoughts about getting my teeth less crowded and straightened out. Any advice would help. I also feel like there is crowding in my teeth, which feels either painful or strenuous in my mouth.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If there is still crowding after wisdom teeth extraction, you need to get braces from an orthodontist. I need to see a picture of your inside mouth to suggest a treatment plan. Sometimes, the orthodontist may suggest extracting premolar teeth just behind the canines to create more space. It all depends on how your teeth are arranged, the size of the teeth, and the spaces between teeth. Send some pictures for more details.

Patient's Query

Thank you, doctor,

As requested, here are the pictures. Can braces or something besides extracting a tooth be possible? I have had this for a while, maybe for three or more years. There are no infections; it just feels like there is no space and tension. I do not know how to explain it. I could live with it, but I was wondering what would be the right decision.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen your pictures (attachment removed to protect patient identity), and you have moderate anterior teeth crowding. It is a good option to go for orthodontic braces at your age, but you will require some teeth extraction to create space for the other anterior teeth to align correctly. Another costly method is to go for Invisalign treatment, where sometimes treatment may be done without tooth extraction. Still, you may need proximal reduction of anterior teeth to make it thin so that some space can be created for it (else removal is the only option).

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
