Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am going through a difficult phase. I have been in a relationship with my colleague for the past four years. I then had to move to a different city for work. Now the problem is I have started missing her terribly. I cannot concentrate on work or anything else. We talk over the phone every day. But still, I am confused. I do not know what exactly my problem is. I keep thinking about the past. Please help me get out of this state.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Any relationship tends to get more emotional over time. In your case, naturally, the emotional bonding took over your logical thinking and behavior. Usually, there should not be anything to worry about. In this modern world, you can keep in touch with your friend through a phone call, email, or video call facility. Earlier, this would not have been possible. So, stay positive. Obsessive thoughts are your problem, and the cure is to stay mentally occupied. Physical activity, reading, being with friends, etc., could help you. I suggest you think about your friend without forcing those thoughts away. You could try cognitive therapy.

Thank you.
