Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a dehydrated skin in my palms for the past three months. I am using Cetaphil lotion for 20 days. But it did not help me. Kindly suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Using lotion will not help you. You can apply moisturizer in the form of thick cream or ointment. Do not use harsh soaps. Wash your hands with a mild cleanser and apply moisturizer immediately after drying your hands with a soft towel. Avoid having direct contact with any detergents or soaps. Wear hypoallergenic gloves while washing or cleaning.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am attaching the image of my palms. Will a dehydrated skin resolve on its own? Does white soft paraffin and Fexitol help me? Before two years, I had a wound on the nose. A part of the scar got hyperpigmented. How to clear it? Does Tretinoin 0.025% help me? Before few months, I got irritant contact dermatitis in my upper body and face. I started to have it after using the same soap for several months. Before the appearance of redness, I used a disinfectant with Ethanol and Chlorheixidne daily. Initially, it was itchy and I was given steroids. Now it is present on the left chest. It causes burning during a hot climate. What is the treatment? I am using a combination of Aloe vera and Glycerin. But it did not help me.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If you have stress or anxiety disorder or panic disorder or phobias or generalized anxiety, then you can have numbness and tingling in various parts of the body especially on your hands or feet. If you have any of the above, then take treatment to resolve it. You can use soft white paraffin or Flexitol. It contains urea and other skin-nourishing ingredients. It provides moisturization and hydration. Before applying it, you should wash and dry the area. Apply it once or twice daily. Avoid having contact with the eyes and some side effects such as rash and blistering can occur if you are sensitive to the ingredients. After the healing of the nose lesion, it has caused a condition called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. You should apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF (sun protection factor) of 30. You should apply it before going outside. You can apply vitamin C serum cream containing Arbutin or mulberry extract to lighten it. Plain tretinoin will not help you and so do not use it. Irritant contact dermatitis can occur due to the application of soap and disinfectant. it is good to avoid using this product. Mild steroid cream is given for a week to reduce the inflammation. You should avoid having direct sun exposure, hot and humid areas. Do not use hot water for bathing. Pat dry your skin or use a soft towel. Do not rub the area and use a hypoallergenic moisturizer within two to three minutes of taking shower. It helps to heal the skin. Keep the skin dry and ventilated. Apply a soothing lotion like Calamine two times daily for a week. Have a follow-up after a week.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I do not have any improvements in my dehydrated hands. I am using Flexitol for two weeks. It is still wrinkled and there is no sign of improvement. Do I need to use Flexitol continuously? My nose lesion was diagnosed by a local dermatologist and he told me that it seems like an intradermal nevus. It was a raised mole. Before two years, I tried to remove it by garlic applications. It became flattered and I had a change in color. Is it a mole or scar? I want to remove it completely. If it is a mole, what is the best way to remove it? I used a cream containing Prednisolone 0.5% and gentamicin sulfate 0.16% on the irritant contact dermatitis three times a day to remove the redness. Is it good? Can I use it for face irritant dermatitis?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If your hands remain dehydrated even after applying moisturizing agents, then it can occur due to decreased or absence of sweating due to poorly functioning glands. It can also occur due to injury or skin condition or neurological condition or the cause can be unknown. The other causes can be diabetes, medication, and dehydration. You can do a thermoregulatory skin test to diagnose it. In the meantime, you can drink plenty of water and apply moisturizers. You have tried to remove your mole using garlic applications. You can have an irritant reaction followed by pigmentation. You can remove them safely by doing laser treatment. Surgical excision can leave a scar and so consult an experienced cosmetologist to remove it. For irritant contact dermatitis, you can follow the above mention treatment for the body. But for the face, it is good to apply a less strong steroid like Hydrocortisone 1%.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Regarding my dehydrated skin, it was fine before getting anxiety and I had numbness in both palms. After the disappearance of numbness, I started to have dehydrated skin on my palms. It remains the same for the past four months even after applying Flexitol for few weeks. My hand was normal before having numbness. What is the reason? Regarding intradermal nevus, I am interested to remove it. The doctor told me that it is a benign condition. What is the best option that helps to resolve it without leaving a scar on my nose? Does laser help me? Will surgical excision help me? Does the mole grow when it does not have complete removal?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Stress and anxiety increase the epinephrine levels in the body and it decreases the blood flow towards the hands. So, you have cold hands and numbness during stress. You can treat it by having a skincare routine in your palms. Fro intradermal nevus, you can do a laser treatment. Normal mode pigment-specific lasers are more suitable to treat melanocytic nevi. Consult an experienced dermatologist to have good results.
