Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 25-year-old woman trying to conceive for five months. I have taken treatment for the last two months after the follicular study and took hCG this month, but I did not get pregnant. What are the chances to get pregnant after hCG? I want to know what would be the best treatment for me. Please suggest. Should I continue the same?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I do not see any reason for you to get so anxious. Let me explain. You are young and at the right age for pregnancy, and 19 to 35 years is the best age. You have tried only for five months. Usually, we investigate and worry only after a year of trying. The hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is just an injection that causes ovulation. It is definitely helpful to get pregnant. It also supports early pregnancy. Kindly see if the following checklist of investigations is done:

  • For husband: Semen analysis at least two done four weeks apart, preferably in an infertility center (examination done by andrologist). Blood sugars.
  • For wife:
  1. Blood sugars.
  2. Thyroid profile.
  3. Ultrasound scans evaluate the uterus, ovaries, and adnexa.
  4. Confirming tubal patency is the most important. The tube is the connection between the uterus and ovaries (the bridge where sperm meets the egg and forms a baby). This is the size of a hair follicle and cannot be seen on scans. Being such a small opening tube can get blocked easily, so check with HSG (hysterosalpingography), an X-ray with dye or SSG (sonosalpingography), a scan with dye, or laparoscopy.

If all this is done and found normal, nothing can stop a pregnancy with God's will.

Hope I have cleared your query, do write back if any more queries.

All the best.
