What are the symptoms of blocked fallopian tube?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My wife has a painful menstrual cycle. Also before marriage, she took Femilon pills for six months for irregular menstrual cycle. We have been trying for a baby for around six months. My sperm analysis report is normal. Her HSG abdomen ultrasound is also normal. Is she having any serious type of problem which hinders pregnancy? What are the symptoms of blocked fallopian tube?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  • Simply tubes do not get blocked, and even when tubes are blocked, it will not cause any symptom.
  • If there was no history of PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) and no pelvic operation done in the past, then there is no need to worry about tubes.
  • If her menstrual cycles are regular, then there is no reason to fear, and you can safely try for another six months before going for treatment.
  • Even when everything is normal, it takes around 12 months for 85% of couples to conceive. So, you can relax and stop worrying.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • Hysterosalpingography can be done to check the patency of tubes. Please consult your gynecologist for the same.
