My period is late by six days. Why?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 25 year old female. My periods were due on the 17th and today is the 23rd. I have still not got my periods. I have a very weird taste in my mouth. I have mood swings. I am passing urine frequently. My poop is very liquid. All this is happening with me from the past three days. Please suggest what it could be.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Have you experienced delayed periods ever before? Is there any history of sexual contact? If there is no such history, then once or twice in a year your periods might get delayed or disturbed. If you do not get your periods after a few days and there is no history of sexual contact, then get an ultrasound done and after that, I can suggest a medicine for withdrawal bleeding. These are premenstrual symptoms which will get relieved with the onset of periods. For frequent motion, eat curd, boiled rice and take probiotics at least three times a day. To rehydrate, take ORS (oral rehydration salts) after every motion or you can have one glass of lemon water with a pinch of salt and one teaspoon of sugar. This is a homemade rehydration solution.
