Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old male. I feel inferior and depressed, and the main reason behind my stress is that I used to lisp while communicating. Due to this habit, my friends made fun of me and left me lonely. My mother died a few years back because of liver failure, and so I tried to commit suicide many times. Therefore, I used to masturbate twice a day to forget all my tension and to get sleep. But this habit has become an addiction, and I cannot get sleep without masturbating. I had been facing this issue for six months. I feel tired nowadays and do not wish to do work or study. Kindly help.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Sometimes you do not have control over the situation, but how you cope with it matters. It seems like you are depressed but do not worry as it can be treated. I suggest you consult a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and treatment. I also suggest you follow the following instructions:

1. Share your feelings with family and close friends to come out of depression.

2. Avoid caffeinated drinks at least eight hours before sleep.

3. Practice relaxation techniques like breathing exercises as they will make you relaxed and ease your anxiety.

4. Take a log book, pen down your thoughts, and never read them again.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
