Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I just got transferred from my old hospital, where I used to work as a doctor, to a new hospital. This new workplace is near my home and has better infrastructure than the previous one, but I am not enjoying the work I have been doing here. Also, I get very negative vibes from my seniors about work. Although I am not from the psychiatry field, I think I suffer from workplace depression. I cry almost every other day after work. Please help me out.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. Do a self-rating test of depression like Zung's self-rating depression scale, which you can easily find online. If it indicates moderate to severe depression, consult a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and treatment. Besides, I suggest the following steps can help you. Aerobic exercise daily does help, and also, taking a balanced diet rich in antioxidants and omega fatty acids. Share your feelings with family and close friends, as sharing helps a lot. Give at least one hour daily for your hobbies to vent out daily stress. Music, if you like, also helps. Meditation daily for at least half an hour in the morning helps you relax and eases your anxiety.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
