Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 60-year-old female. I am writing to seek guidance and advice regarding managing diabetes. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and I am eager to understand more about the condition and the best ways to manage it effectively. I am looking for guidance on specific dietary changes, meal planning, and understanding how different foods might affect my blood sugar levels. What types of exercises are most beneficial for managing diabetes? Are there any specific routines I should consider incorporating into my daily schedule? I would appreciate guidance on how frequently I should be monitoring my blood sugar levels and what target ranges to aim for. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Diabetes is increased blood glucose due to impaired metabolism. Weight reduction can help in keeping blood sugar under control. It increases insulin sensitivity and helps in controlling sugar. Diet modification, like avoiding oily, fried, and sugary food can also help by reducing sugar intake. Blood sugar needs to be checked at least once in two weeks till blood sugar is maintained. Fasting sugar needs to be under 120 mg/dL and post-prandial sugar under 180 mg/dL.

I hope this addresses your query.

Feel free to follow up.

Thanks.
