How to treat loose stools and food poisoning?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had food poisoning last week. My nausea has subsided, but I still have runny stools multiple times daily. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The following ways will help you hydrate with electrolytes, take probiotic powder thrice a day. You may take an over-the-counter drug. You may take Bismuth subsalicylate, one tablet once, if diarrhea does not improve. If no improvement is seen, I suggest that you may need antibiotics and IV (intravenous) fluids and visit an emergency room. Thank you.
