Can eczema of the lower body spreading to the neck, face, and scalp be a yeast infection?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had eczema on my lower body, rising to the neck and spreading to the face and scalp. I suspect it may be some yeast infection, as I have seen improvement after using 1% Hydrocortisone and Betnovate cream. Kindly suggest to me your opinion.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Try to attach a clinical picture to assess lesions and guide you accordingly.

Do you have inflammation, itching, burning, pain, or scaling?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I am experiencing all the above except pain. I would not say there is pain, and it is just a constant discomfort. It takes me hours to find a comfortable position, and my skin cannot bear to come into contact with even cotton material.

I saw a heat rash on my stomach and parts of my back too. I have used coconut oil, aloe vera with tea tree, and a double-base emollient gel.

There is a lot of scaling from my neck to my scalp. It is on the side of my face, around my eyes, and on the top of my head.

I have also had a jock itch, I guess. Last week I had a few days where I was busy reorganizing something at home, and I was sweating excessively for at least four days. After this, the overall condition became somewhat worse. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I suppose it is eczematous dermatitis with psoriasis.

I suggest the following.

  1. Apply Cetaphil cream three to four times daily for two months.
  2. Apply Liquid paraffin lotion immediately after bath for 15 days.
  3. Moisturize skin frequently.
  4. Use Salicylic acid shampoo alternate day for ten days, then twice weekly for six weeks.
  5. Eat a diet rich in antioxidants.
  6. Avoid activities that cause sweating.
  7. Apply steroid creams at night for ten days.
  8. Avoid scratching and rubbing of lesions.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
